How to deal with days when you have no motivation to workout?
We all know that motivation comes and goes. It’s not always gonna be there.
The days when motivation isn’t there are the days when big results are made. Being able to put in the work when you don’t feel like it separates the winners from the losers.
So how do you work when you don’t feel like it? This all comes down to discipline
Discipline comes from the word “disciple”. You can be a disciple to a set of principles, a set of values, a purpose, a goal, or a person representing that goal.
In other words, it comes from within. You are a disciple of your own deep values and their source. You have the independent will and ability to prioritize those values over your feelings and moods
A lot of research has been done in trying to discover what all successful people have in common.
Outcome: The successful person has the habit of doing the things failures don’t like to do. They don’t like doing them either, but their disliking is weaker than the strength of their purpose.
Finding your “why”, your inner values and your purpose is the secret to unlocking discipline. Discipline to carry you through days where motivation is low. This is the discipline that is going to get you to crush your fitness goals (or professional goals)
Starting the gym because “I want abs and I want to look good” might not cut it.
Instead, spend some time trying to discover the real reason why you’re stepping foot in the gym. How does physical improvement match with your inner values? What deeper purpose do you have that your current physical condition does not align with?
Training fueled by deep inner values is sustainable, walking into the gym as a result of an impulse or a desire at any given moment is not.
Finding it might be the key to unlocking your dream body.
