Young Men in Today’s Society

In today’s society, many of us, and for the context of this article, young men, may encounter many challenges that can be difficult to overcome. These challenges can range from social and physical issues to mental health issues as well as others that relate to financial and employment problems. 

In this article, we take a look at the problems young guys face in today’s society and how to address them.

Nowadays, many young men struggle to find purpose and meaning in their lives, and this can lead to anxiety and depression. In addition, young men may feel pressured to conform to social expectations of masculinity, which can harm their mental health and well-being. 

For starters, one of the biggest problems that young guys in their 20s and 30s face in modern society is the pressure to achieve academically and professionally.

This pressure can cause stress and anxiety and causes some of you, who are young men just joining the workforce, to struggle with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety disorders.

Thus, many young guys today feel pressured to be strong, brave, and independent and may feel they have to hide their feelings and vulnerabilities in order to be seen as “masculine”. This can affect your mental health and cause relationship and social problems. 

So, the question at hand is: how to address these issues?

In terms of physical health, a person can’t devour garbage and processed foods on a daily and expect anything but bad health. How can you love other people if you can’t love yourself? How can you take care of others if you can’t take care of yourself? 

This may be the journey you needed. This isn’t a New Years’ Resolution. It’s a life resolution to exercise and be healthier in general.

We can also work to break down traditional gender roles and expectations so that you can feel confident to express and be yourselves and accept your feelings and vulnerabilities.
